Program
Djanet – Tinamali
Departure from Europe or Algiers. We are welcomed at Djanet airport, late in the evening, by our team.
Day 1 · Adaik
In the heart of a forest of stones between large cliffs and sand dunes, we start our crossing in natural and mysterious corridors. There is a possibility to contemplate a magnificent sunset.
Day 2 · Imeurouden
Our journey continues towards the wide canyon of Imeurouden where we will contemplate shelter after shelter paintings and engravings of various periods. Animals, characters, scenes of daily life often pastoral, and even a group of pregnant women representative of the testimony of life.
Day 3 · Tikoubaouine
After passing through the middle of the high cliffs of the Oued Tililine, we arrive at Tikoubaouine, a fabulous site where arches and sandstone obelisks stand. We admire a very beautiful pre-islamic keyhole tomb.
Day 4 · Essendilène
We take the time to walk around Tikoubaouine. We meet with the nomadic populations for a real moment of exchange and sharing. We leave the desert landscape to approach a key moment of our trip, Essendilène. A beautiful hike awaits us between guelta and oleanders where the rocks tighten to form an impressive canyon. This path, sheltered from the eyes, transports us in a muffled and colored universe to the emerald guelta.
Day 5 · Ihrir
We stop at the gueltas superimposed on Assar in Dider before reaching the site of Tin Taghirt to discover magnificent Neolithic rock engravings, notably the famous gazelle represented on the bills of 1000 dinars.
Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ihrir Valley is a haven of greenery encircled by high cliffs. Near Ihrir, we discover Idharen, an ancient village of seasonal huts that were once inhabited by nomads during the date harvest.
Day 6 · Erg Admer
We arrive at one of the biggest dune massifs of the Sahara, the Erg Admer. We never tire of admiring the contrasting colors of the blue sky, the golden or pink sand, depending on the time of day, and the dark rocks. It is a fantastic landscape in the heart of the dunes to contemplate an unforgettable sunset.
Day 7 · Tagharghart – Djanet
We reach the site of Tagharghart to contemplate the very beautiful and famous engraving of «The weeping cow». We return to Djanet with a visit to the old city, the local market, and the possibility to take a shower. We install our last camp in the dunes before joining the airport around midnight.
For unforeseeable reasons (traffic, flight, case of force majeure, climate, etc.) and for the good progress of your trip, our guide may be required to adapt the program.
