In the heart of Tassili n’Ajjer

Experience unique moments of sharing and immersion

Focused on the southeastern part of Algeria in the Tassili N’Ajjer National Park, we specialize in hiking and trekking in the middle of the desert in groups, alone, with friends or family.

Far from traditional circuits, we offer our travelers unique moments of sharing and immersion in a 100% natural environment.

The Sahara, which seems at first glance to be a hostile place, reveals all its richness to those who venture there. With breathtaking scenery, a feeling of freedom, and absolute silence, an adventure with us in the desert will not leave you indifferent.

The impact of nature on physical and mental well-being is recognized. However, this incredible environment in which we operate is very fragile. That is why we are committed to preserving and protecting it as much as possible.

With low impact and excellent for health, walking is our travel philosophy. A natural stress reliever, walking is based on simplicity: taking the time, reconnecting with nature, awakening our senses, and more. Walking is the best way to discover and observe what surrounds us.

The Tassili n’Ajjer is a true open-air museum. So far, more than 15,000 pre-Islamic paintings, engravings, and tombs have been recorded, made about 10,000 years ago. They bear witness to the peoples who lived during the prehistoric era. We aspire to uncover the history of this region and arouse travelers’ curiosity

The people you meet during a trip are often unforgettable, so we accompany our travelers for an authentic and humanly rich experience, in total immersion in the Tuareg culture.

Travel offers the chance to taste new flavours. Beyond the gourmet aspect, these gustatory experiences are a real opportunity to share. We’ll introduce you to a wide range of Tuareg culinary specialities in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Maïdjanad was born from the fascination of its two founders for the dune massifs, which represent the iconic landscape of the Sahara, and the desire to offer a unique experience during an exceptional trip.

Born in Algiers to a Russo-Ukrainian mother and an Algerian father, Nadia spent the last fifteen years in France and traveled the world. She was shaped by a family environment where several cultures coexist and where Arabic, Kabyle, French, and Russian are spoken alternately, and by her many travels during which she particularly practiced English.

Her curiosity and the need to reconnect with her country of origin led her to explore the Sahara multiple times. It was such a strong and different experience from what she had known before that she wanted to do something about it. She decided to build a bridge between travelers and the Tuaregs by creating Maïdjanad.

My philosophy: transmission and sharing, that’s why I like to create unique and timeless moments, sources of exchange and mutual discoveries.

Maïdjanad was born from the passion of  Nadia for the Algerian Sahara. A founding value that constitutes the DNA and culture of the company.

Environment Protection

We operate in an extraordinary environment, and it is only natural for us to offer environmentally responsible tours.

We take inspiration from the Touareg people who live in perfect harmony with their environment
and leave minimal traces after their passage.

To preserve this environment, we adopt a simple eco-friendly behavior throughout the tour.

Fair Trade

We support the local economy by providing income to many residents of Djanet and its surroundings. By traveling with us, you contribute to the development of the region’s economy.

Our team visits nomadic populations and children to provide material donations such as clothing, school supplies, toys, games, perfumes, hygiene products, and candy.

Before the tour: show interest in the destination

  • Learn about the region, its inhabitants, their way of life, and be open to encounters and sharing
  • Choose hygiene products that are good for your skin and the planet
  • Pack your bag “lightly,” bringing only the essentials (see the travel guide)

During the tour: respect for nature and people

  • Respect the conditions of nomadic life and customs: avoid certain subjects such as politics, sexuality, religion, and money.
  • Responsible management of natural resources, including water and personal waste.
  • Respect for fauna and flora: do not disturb animals, do not collect souvenirs from nature without the consent of your Touareg guide.
  • Respect for archaeological sites: to protect and avoid damaging the works, it is strictly forbidden to touch, remove, or photograph them with flash.
  • Camping means choosing a minimal ecological footprint (tents, without wifi or electricity).
  • We favor regional products in our cuisine to support small merchants and the local economy.
  • We prefer reusable plates, glasses, and other utensils.
  • Toxic waste, such as medicines, used or unused batteries and batteries, must be brought back with you for collection.

After the tour: awareness-raising

  • Share your adventure with your loved ones to testify to your ecological awareness.
  • Prepare your next eco-friendly trip by taking into account the experience in the desert.

As you may have understood, this is a mutual commitment. We count on you to uphold these commitments during your stay. Upon your return, do not hesitate to propose your improvements so that together we can build a trip that is even more respectful of the environment.
