Program
Djanet – Tinamali
Departure from Europe or Algiers. We will be welcomed by our team at the airport in Djanet late in the evening.
Day 1 · Erg Admer
We will cross the Albian nappe, one of the largest fresh water reserves in the world, to arrive at one of the biggest dune massifs of the Sahara, the Erg Admer. We will never tire of admiring the contrasting colors of the blue sky, the golden or pink sand depending on the time of day, and the dark rocks. It’s a fantastic landscape in the heart of the dunes, and we’ll watch an unforgettable sunset.
Day 2 · Essendilène
We will meet with nomadic populations for a real moment of exchange and sharing. We’ll leave the desert landscape to approach a key moment of our trip, Essendilène. A beautiful hike awaits us between the guelta and oleanders where the rocks tighten to form an impressive canyon. This path, sheltered from view, transports us into a muffled and colorful universe to reach the emerald guelta.
Day 3 · Tikoubaouine
After passing through the high cliffs of the Oued Tililine, we will arrive at Tikoubaouine, a fabulous site where arches and sandstone obelisks stand. We will admire a very beautiful pre-Islamic tomb in the shape of a keyhole.
Day 4 · Imeurouden/Adaik
We will leave Tikoubaouine and head towards the wide canyon of Imeurouden, where we will contemplate rock paintings and engravings from various periods, depicting animals and characters that are representative of life. Our journey continues in the heart of a forest of stones between large cliffs and sand dunes, a crossing in natural and mysterious corridors. We’ll have the possibility to contemplate a magnificent sunset.
Day 5 · Djanet
We will reach the site of Tagharghart to contemplate the very beautiful and famous engraving of «The weeping cow». After lunch, we will visit the city of Djanet and the local market before checking in at our hotel or guests house.
Day 6 · Djanet/Sebiba
We will attend and participate in the Sebiba, a unique event registered in the cultural heritage of UNESCO. You will be immersed in the heart of the preparations with one or the other of the two communities that practice the ritual. Women will dress up, put on makeup, and wear their most beautiful jewelry, while the men prepare themselves as warriors
Day 7 · Djanet
We will set up our final camp in the dunes before heading to the airport around midnight.
